Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

11/12/2020 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Emmitt is a coachable RHP/1B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City. On the mound, Emmitt gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and keeps his pitches around the zone. Emmitt's fastball tops out at 60mph. Extending through his release can help Emmitt improve his pitch command and velocity. In the field, Emmitt makes the routine plays and keep his throws accurate to his target. Emmitt can field ground balls more efficiently by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with comfortable hands. He works through a level swing and produces solid line drives. Engaging his lower half more can help Emmitt generate more pop off the barrel. With four more years to develop, Emmitt has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

09/26/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Emmitt continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he continues to shine as he displays smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 63 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/07/2019 - Baseball Factory Cleveland All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Emmitt is a young RHP/1B that worked hard to improve his game out in Cleveland. At 1B Emmitt worked hard to get into a good fielding position. His hands were soft and he made clean exchanges. He made accurate throws with a clean arm action and good backspin around the diamond. At the plate Emmitt has a tall and open stance. He works to get the barrel on plane and shows a gap to gap approach to driving the baseball. On the mound Emmitt showed a 2-pitch FB/CB mix. Learning a CH would help improve Emmitt's repertoire. On the mound he starts square with a small starter step working to a fluid hand separation. He strides in line to the plate with a controlled landing and finishes his rotation to the plate. Emmitt shows the drive to improve, even asking for extra reps at the event. Work ethic like this will only improve Emmitt's game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
