09/09/2018 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Eric is an athletic two-way prospect who will graduate in 2019. On the mound, Eric gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose, clean arm action and extends through on his release. He stays inline towards the plate, drives his lower half, and finishes square to the plate with his chest over his front knee. Eric shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph. Breaking ball sits from 69-71mph with 11-5 break. Changeup ranges from 71-74mph with late arm side run as he throws with fastball arm speed. In the field, Eric shows fluid footwork and is very agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft hands. He makes a quick, clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to square contact and gap to gap pop. Overall, Eric is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
