09/20/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Detroit, MI Eric is an athletic 1B/OF who has an excellent future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.11. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through a tall setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft sure and presents well out front. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and reads balls well off the bat. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. Throws are accurate with but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Eric has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
