04/02/2017 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Eric continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. He is aggressive and gets behind balls, displaying accuracy on his throws, and playing through with momentum to his target. At 2B, feet are active as he works around balls through proper angles. Hands are soft / clean but can be presented more out front. At the plate, he shows a squared setup with balance. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

08/04/2016 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown Eric is an athletic IF/OF prospect with natural instincts about how to play the game. He takes a big hack and shows some good pop for his age/size. His stance is square and balanced in the box with a short, on-time stride to activate his lower body in his swing. He takes the bat directly to the ball with a short swing that leads to consistent line drive contact that will play up as he grows and gets stronger. Working on rhythm at the plate will give him more active hands and bat whip through the zone. Eric gets quick reads on balls off the bat and takes efficient routes to field, extending his range. He has a clean exchange to throw, gaining momentum to his target with his release. Presenting his glove out front to field is the final step to becoming a complete defender. This kid has solid tools and is always ready to learn and improve his game. We look forward to watching him progress.

03/20/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Greenville, SC Eric continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive grade has improved as well. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he works to get behind balls. In the IF, feet are active as he works to square balls up. He makes the routine plays, displaying clean hands. Presenting his glove more out in front will help to avoid getting the ‘in between' hop. Continuing to increase foot quickness will aid in improving range. At the plate, hands are loose and work through a level / aggressive swing path. He makes consistent hard contact as he works inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power will increase as he adds overall body strength.

07/16/2015 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 Eric Boston is an OF/2B that will graduate in 2018. Defensively, he worked mostly in the OF during drill work, and proved to have a sure glove with continuous hand/eye connection. He attacked the ball well with some fluidity to field and throw with momentum to his targets. In the inf, he worked good angles to get his hops and fits at 2B, currently. Offensively, he had a level path to hit and was consistent with contact, tracking the ball through the zone. He had good balance and worked to drive with his lower half while staying compact with his barrel delivery. Overall - Eric has time on his side to physically mature and continue the sound fundamental play.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
