01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Eric continues to show well on the diamond and did so again at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. With the bat, this lefty displays an athletic/open stance with centered balance. Hands are quick with good barrel whip as he squares the ball up with pop. He is quick out of the box and down the 1B line. At 2B, he has active prep and takes good angles around the GB from right to left. Hands are presented out in front as he funnels smoothly. On the mound, he maintains quick tempo and fires from a loose/clean arm action. He works the ball to both sides of the zone and challenges hitters to swing the bat. Curveball has 12/6 shape with good action. Eric is a talented 2-way player whose tools will translate well into the next level.

10/11/2017 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Eric showed aggressiveness at the plate, smooth fielding skills in the INF, and a quick pace on the mound during his time in Arizona. At the plate, Eric stands in athletically, he has fast bat speed, and works the ball well to the opposite field. He swings in good rhythm, makes square contact, and flashes some pop in his bat. At 2nd base Eric presents his glove properly, his hands are soft, and he fields in a low position. He is a smart player, knows his situations, and has a strong/accurate arm. On the hill, Eric works down in the zone, he gets good extension on his pitches, and finishes in a complete/athletic position.

07/26/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Eric continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting abilities are now outstanding through a tall, athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) creating bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At the event, he was 5 for 11 with a 2B. At 2B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays quick, athletic actions. He uses his athletic feet well in his lateral movements displaying range in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Throws display life, accuracy, and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He shows big play potential in the MIF. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Fastball showed a range of 77-80 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball is an outstanding pitch, displaying 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. Control is outstanding as well in attacking hitters and he throws strikes with all his pitches. He has a bulldog mentality on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works hard, and is a great team player. Eric has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

05/27/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Salt Lake City, UT Eric showed in the OF and at 3B for the first time and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.21. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. He moves well laterally, displaying range and shows a plus backhand. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball and has strength in his swing, displaying gap to gap pop.

01/16/2017 - College PREP - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Eric is a broad, strong 2018 OF/RHP prospect. He shows advanced bat to ball skills at the plate with good hand eye coordination and barrel accuracy. His setup is square with a strong stride and load to a powerful bat angle. He has quick hands and a level path through the zone to hit the ball hard on a line and show gap power. In the outfield, his feet work efficiently to the ball after good pre-pitch work to get in the best position to field. He works to field the ball centered in an athletic position with his hands presented and has a clean exchange to throw accurately to his target. On the mound, he features a three pitch mix with a mid 70's fastball with run and sink, a 10-4 curveball and a changeup with arm side sink. He works in line to the plate with a clean arm stroke and an on time separation to keep his arm in sync. More drive from his lower half will add velocity moving forward. Eric is an intriguing prospect who we think will take the next steps in the coming years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
