11/05/2009 - Pirate City Select Training Eric is a young, 2012 graduate that shows as a two-way player in the IF plus on the mound, with a lean wiry body displaying room to fill out. Foot speed is average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active but needs to be more aggressive in coming to get the baseball, playing through with feet / hands. He shows easy actions with hands and feet working well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Defensive abilities are slightly above average with average arm strength as he needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. At the plate, Drabeck has near average abilities and power through an aggressive approach. He works to keep hands inside the baseball, utilizing all fields but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments. Power numbers will improve as more overall body strength is gained. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 67-71 mph with running action on a slight downhill plane that creates tough angles on hitters. Off speed pitches are average to near average, needing further development to be quality pitches at the next level. With 3 years to further develop, Eric has abilities with time and room to improve.
