10/09/2019 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Eric continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. He did show at 1B for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.09 runner. At 1B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active, displaying proper footwork around the bag, and he is a quality receiver. Glove is soft / sure and presents well out front. He consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now well above average through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the baseball with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/04/2019 - College PREP - Gillette, WY Eric is an athletic OF prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Eric shows active footwork and flashes good range to his backhand side. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Overall, Eric is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
