Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/2BPosition Projection

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City Eric is a coachable RHP/2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Fall Classic at Pirate City. On the mound, Eric gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Eric shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 63-67mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 65-68mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Lengthening his arm action can help Eric improve as a pitcher. In the field, Eric gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He throws from a low 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Eric can improve defensively by increasing his lateral range. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a wide stance and works to barrel up the baseball, making solid contact. Maintaining center balance throughout his swing can help Eric improve as a hitter. Overall, Eric is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

08/18/2019 - College PREP - Uniondale (Long Island), NY Eric is a tall RHP/2B prospect who will graduate in 2023. On the mound, Eric gathers over the rubber and works with a loose arm. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph. Breaking ball sits from 58-60mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 66-68mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Striding square towards the plate can help Eric improve as a pitcher. In the field, Eric makes the routine plays and makes consistent throws to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Eric improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes his stride on time. He gets into his load and leads well with his lower half, spraying the ball to all fields. Eric can improve as a hitter by getting into his load sooner. With four more years to develop, Eric has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
