09/29/2013 - College PREP - Scranton, PA Eric is a tall, lean SS that will graduate in 2016. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.38 60 time. He plays with a ton of energy and makes the routine plays. Feet are quick / active as he plays hard and works to square balls up, displaying clean hands as he plays under control. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to play through balls while presenting hands more out front and increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Santiago shows a squared setup with balance and rhythm. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact but needs to get stride foot down sooner to work on time and improve hitting grade. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more and builds more overall body strength. With 3 years to further develop, Eric has abilities with time and room to improve.
