Throws display accuracy and on line carry through a loose arm action as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. 10/26/2014 - National Tryout - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN EJ performed consistently at his latest Baseball Factory outing. Offensively, he had good balance to hit and got his hands activated to launch. He was on-time consistently and was direct with his hands down to contact generating excellent bat speed. He was accurate with the barrel and with more strength will begin to drive the ball to all fields. Defensively, his feet were active in his pre-pitch and he took the proper angles moving efficiently and with good body control to the ball. He was sure with the glove and had a clean exchange to throw. His actions were solid, and with greater arm strength his game will improve all the more. Overall - Thomas is a sound prospect that has his senior season to add strength as he preps for the next level.

07/29/2014 - Under Armour Southwest Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Eric continues to show as a 2B with solid abilities. Defensively, he is a sound defender with hands / feet working well through the fielding process. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls, displaying clean hands. Throws are accurate, flashing carry as he works to get rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup with balance. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. 12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Eric is a great competitor who has a willingness to learn and improve. Defensively at 2B, he shows good prep and works into a square fielding position. He gets around the ball and has a clean exchange. Although a 2B, he is versatile enough to play anywhere on the diamond. Loosening up his actions will allow for his defensive abilities to improve. At the plate, this right handed swinger shows good rhythm with a solid base. He gets back into a loaded position and delivers the barrel on a level path. He got on base and isn't afraid to steal the extra bag. Thomas also got onto the mound and threw a few innings. FB tops out at 78 mph and shows some tail. He uses his big frame to work downhill and in-line toward the dish. All-in-all, Eric is a hard worker who still has a year to develop and fine-tune his skills.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
