11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Erik continues to show a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-70 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he throws lots of strikes and works to get ahead of hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

09/24/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Tacoma, WA Erik is a long, projectable built OF/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. In the outfield, Erik plays with active footwork and gets a great jump on the ball to cover a wide range. He takes effective angles and presents his glove as he fields the ball in a square position. Erik has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball showing consistently online throws. Offensively, Erik has a tall setup with his weight in the front of his stance. He has a load with an on-time stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Erik has quick hands and does a nice job engaging his hips in his swing. He is a contact type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. On the mound, Erik has an on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He keeps his eyes direct and effective uses his front side. He lands closed to home plate and uses his hips properly. Erik commands his fastball with tail movement. Overall, Erik has skill on both sides of the ball with an effective approach giving him a bright future on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
