01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ethan is a solid SS prospect who continues to show well on the diamond. Speed has improved as he now runs his 60 in 6.96. In the INF, he has active prep moving well on the balls of his feet. Working right to left around the GB, he can pick it, gathers smoothly and fires accurate throws with zip/carry across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH proves to be a tough out. He takes a hack and battles deep into the count. Hands are loose as he whips the barrel on-plane and connects, with pop to his pull side. Only a 2022 grad - Ethan is a talented SS who has upside.

09/25/2019 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Ethan continues to show a tremendous future on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved, now displaying outstanding tools. Hands are quick as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. Defensively, he takes a quick first step and has plus lateral range (7.04 60 time). He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip (81 mph velocity) on his throws. Defensive abilities are outstanding as he shows big play potential. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 74-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, great teammate and plays the game hard. With 3 years to further develop, Ethan has the makings of a special type player that will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ethan is an athletic SS/C prospect who showcased his skills at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Ethan takes a good first step and displays active footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He gets his hands activated on time and is explosive driving his lower half through. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed and plus barrel control, leading to line drives into the gaps. Overall, Ethan is a talented prospect who should find success in this, his freshman season.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Ethan is a slim and athletic 2022 SS prospect that made several great plays on the infield. At SS, Ethan is on time with his pre pitch movement, creates angles to the ball, and plays through his backhand. He has good feeds on double plays, a clean exchange, and throws from multiple arm angles. He needs to continue to increase his arm strength and improve his first step to the ball. At the plate, Ethan starts in a squared stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and has a controlled stride. He has a middle approach and hits off a firm front side. He needs to continue to create backside rotation with his lower half and attack the inside part of the ball. Ethan has a bright future and will continue to improve with experience.

12/15/2018 - Texas Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 14-18) Ethan is a coachable SS prospect who worked hard during his time at the Texas Skills Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a centered stride. He gets his hands activated on time and is explosive getting his lower half through. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed and good extension, leading to consistent, loud contact. Taking a softer stride can help Ethan improve as a hitter. Overall, Ethan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

10/07/2018 - College PREP - Austin, TX Ethan is a lean, athletic SS/C who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.25. At SS, feet are active and aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Behind the dish, he utilizes his feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.20-2.26 with accuracy on his throws. Time will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He displays a soft glove and sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to get down sooner. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 4 years to further develop, Ethan has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
