Official Scouting Report

  • 7Class Rating
  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

09/15/2019 - College PREP - Kansas City, KS Ethan is a lean RHP/SS who will graduate in 2020. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared, crouched setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, he displays clean / athletic actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68 mph. Breaking ball sits from 54-56 mph with 3/9 across break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. Ethan has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
