Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 52 mph. Fastball showed a range of 60-62 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

10/13/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Lexington, KY Ethan showed well on the mound and increased velocity to 63 MPH during his last workout. He works well out of the stretch, his arm is clean, and he lands with a proper length stride toward home plate. He keeps his eyes on target, throws strikes, and has a good mound presence. At SS, Ethan makes plays and has active feet. He fields in a square position, he has a good glove angle to the ball, and throws with accuracy and consistency across the diamond. Offensively, this RHH has a tall/square stance, a short stride, and he makes solid contact. He hits line drives consistently, finds the barrel, and taps into his lower body.

09/15/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Ethan is a RHP/SS prospect who will graduate in 2025. On the mound, Ethan gathers over the rubber and keeps his eyes on target. His fastball tops out at 56mph. In the field, Ethan Makes the routine plays and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and works to barrel up the baseball. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Arm action
2. Square direction
3. Chest over front knee finish
Infield
1. Lateral range
2. More athletic fielding position
3. Softer hands
Hitting
1. Square stride
2. Smoother load
3. Center balance

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
