Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Ethan is a long, strong two-way player who looks primed to take a big step forward during his senior season. He is a very sound defensive outfielder who makes plays in all directions and shows off impressive athleticism. His hands are presented out front to field and he takes good routes to the ball to show range. At the dish, he shows strong hands at the point of contact and extends through the ball to drive it. He shows an accurate barrel and can deliver it to any pitch to make solid contact. On the bump, he attacks hitters with good control of his FB/CB mix. He Works down in the zone to induce weak contact and can put hitters away by spotting up either pitch to both sides of the plate. Getting stronger and using his lower half more will lead to more velocity moving forward. Ethan is an intriguing prospect we look forward to following more.

08/05/2018 - College PREP - Lodi (Sacramento), CA Ethan is a tall, lean built right-handed pitching prospect. On the mound, Ethan keeps his eyes on his target and shows a balanced delivery. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a stiff arm action. Ethan lands closed to home plate with a controlled landing. He does a nice job rotating with his core and pivoting off his back foot. Ethan commands his fastball with tail movement. He also locates both his curveball and changeup. Offensively, Ethan has an open setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He has a long stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Ethan swings hard with an upward swing path. He is a contact type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. Overall, Ethan is a well-rounded prospect who has potential to get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
