09/14/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Ethan worked out both behind the plate and on the mound during his last workout in Milwaukee. Defensively, Ethan has soft hands, his footwork is efficient, and he moves well to the baseball. He gains ground, recovers quickly to his feet, and he throws with accuracy to 2nd base. On the hill, Ethan has a loose arm action, he keeps his head on target, and he finishes well out over his front knee. Offensively, Ethan is switch hitter who shows better from the right side. He has direct hands to the ball, good timing, and he squares the ball up well on the barrel. Ethan stays inside the ball and uses some lower 1/2. Abilities can get better with work on the following.

Defensively, Ethan has active feet, he gains ground to his target, and he keeps the ball in front of his body. He follows his throws, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a long arm action with consistency to his target. On the mound, Ethan shows a long arm action, a still head, and he works in good rhythm. At the plate, Ethan has a tall set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He has a level swing and gets good extension through the ball. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
