Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

07/16/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy - (MS) Ethan is a 2026 C/RHP prospect who worked hard to improve his skillsets at the National World Series. Behind the plate, he has an easy sit, with an easy sway, and tracks pitches well. He works to center the baseball and presents a low target. He has a clean exchange as he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 76mph and a best pop time of 2.3 seconds. Has a good spine angle on his blocks and keeps the ball in front of him. On the mound, he showed a good mound presence and was aggressive in the zone. He strides in-line and gets his chest over his front knee. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 69-75mph with some sinking action, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with plus command, and a changeup with some cutting action through the strike zone. At the plate, he hits from a relaxed position with loose hands. He rotates his lower half well and gets his back hip through. Hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 74mph during his round of BP. During the event, he reached base 5 times with a triple, 2 doubles, and a walk. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect having a bright future on the baseball field.

01/26/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Myrtle Beach, SC Ethan is a young, 2-way player with a strong lower body. Behind the plate, Ethan has playable hands and feet, he sits in squarely, and keeps the ball in front of his body. He has plus arm strength with accuracy and delivers the ball with pop times as low as 2.77 seconds to 2nd base. On the mound, Ethan works in good tempo, his FB touches 60 MPH, and he is around the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Ethan is a strong hitter with an athletic stance, good balance, and a rhythmic swing. He has good bat speed, active hands, and he works the ball well gap to gap. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Catching
1. Footwork
2. Blocking
3. Soften glove
Pitching
1. Separation
2. Finish
3. Arm extension
Offense
1. Load
2. Let ball travel

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
