03/24/2019 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Ethan continues to shine on the diamond. He only showed on the mound at the event. On the bump, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work loose / clean to the plate. He works through a quick tempo and shows a 3 pitch mix and throws strikes with all his pitches. Fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/10/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Ethan is a tall, lanky built 3B/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, Ethan has an open setup with a centered balance. He has a load with a square, long stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Ethan gets good hip rotation and shows a long swing path. He is a contact type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. In the field, Ethan plays hard and makes the routine plays. He works around the baseball and presents his glove as he fields it in a square position. Ethan has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. On the mound, Ethan has a balanced delivery and pitches with good tempo. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a quick, clean arm action. Ethan stays square to home plate with the proper stride length and a controlled landing. His fastball has good run movement and his curveball shows medium break. Overall, Ethan is a coachable prospect who has potential to impact the game in multiple areas.

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Ethan is a lean, athletic 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork as he plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared / tall setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-75 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break and shows as a quality pitch. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Ethan has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
