01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ethan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, he continues to shine. He utilizes his quick/aggressive feet as he moves well laterally, displaying range as he covers a ton of ground. He displays smooth / clean actions with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry on his throws. Ethan has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

09/10/2017 - National Tryout Plus - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Ethan is a lean, athletic built OF/LHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. As a left-handed hitter, Ethan has a tall, open setup with a centered balance. He has a load with a square, on-time stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Ethan shows fast bat speed with an on-plane swing path and gets extension at contact. He has an aggressive approach while maintaining a quiet head. Ethan is a line drive type hitter who delivers hard contact. He has the ability to drive the ball to each with power. In the outfield, Ethan plays with effective footwork and covers good ground. He presents his glove and stays behind the baseball as he fields the ball in a low position. Ethan has a clean exchange leading into a long, loose arm action. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot and is building arm strength. On the mound, Ethan has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a loose and clean arm action. Ethan stays square to home plate and rotates with his core towards his target as he finishes. His fastball has good tail action and medium break on his curveball. His changeup is deceptive with sink action. Overall, Ethan plays the game athletically with upside to take his skills to the next level.

07/26/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are now tremendous as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground and shows big play potential in the OF. He works behind the baseball and plays through with momentum to his target and gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he shows an open setup and good plate discipline. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 80-82 mph with tailing action on a downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink in the 70-74 mph range. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

03/19/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Ethan is a long, lean OF/LHP prospect who has a talented skill set and plays the game athletically. In the field, Ethan plays with active, fluid footwork and agile actions giving him above average range. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low, athletic position receiving the ball with soft hands. He has a quick, clean exchange leading into a long, loose arm action throwing from an over the top slot. Ethan does a nice job playing with momentum through the baseball producing strong, accurate throws. As a left-handed hitter, Ethan has an athletic setup with a firm front side. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and maintains direction with his stride. Ethan does a nice job engaging his hips throughout his swing. He is a contact hitter who has good potential. On the mound, Ethan has a balanced delivery that stays inline as he throws from a 3/4 arm slot. He extends through his release and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Ethan's fastball is 80-82 MPH with good arm side run. His changeup has a good sink and he is developing his curveball. Overall, Ethan has skill as a two-way player and good upside to get even better.

09/11/2016 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Defensive grade in the OF has improved, now showing well above average abilities with smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his quick feet well in covering a lot of ground, displaying range. Reads are well off the bat and he works to get behind balls, playing through well with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Arm strength has improved (85 mph velocity) with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry.

06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 6.97. In the OF, he utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground and makes the routine plays. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. He shows a plus eye at the plate and is very patient as he was 2 for 6 with a 2B and 3 BB. On the mound, fastball shows cutting action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/13/2015 - College PREP - Thousand Oaks, CA Ethan is a hard working player that showed as a LHP/OF at the event. In the OF, he has quick feet and reads balls well off the bat, displaying range through proper routes / angles. Arm action is long and loose with throws displaying carry and accuracy. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with hands working inside the ball to utilize all fields through a line drive approach. Power numbers will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, fastball showed in the upper 70 range with arm side run through a high 3/4 arm slot. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape and maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. He throws strikes with all his pitches with his stock on mound continuing to rise as he builds more arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, Ethan has potential and will be a player to follow.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
