Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Ethan is a projectable 2024 2-way player (SS/RHP) who shines in a variety of ways on the diamond. At short, he showed off his arm with a 75 mph arm velocity paired with an accurate arm. Not only did he impress at short, but his tall set up, activated load, and center balance would help him make hard contact in all of his rounds. Ethan stepped on the mound and showed off his command with his fastball. His CH also showed well with great arm spreed. Overall, Ethan is a solid 2-way prospect that projects as a SS but can certainly get it done on the mound, we are excited to see where this game takes him in the future.

10/14/2020 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.38 runner. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He plays with high energy in the MIF. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. He shows a good eye and patient approach as he drew 4 BB at the event. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 65-69 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Ethan is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who showed well during the All-Region Tournament. In the field, Ethan shows efficient footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He is fluid getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent line drives and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Ethan shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits at 55mph with 10-4 break. Overall, Ethan is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Ethan is a hard working and coachable 2-way prospect that made several adjustments. At SS, Ethan has a good prep step, he fields the ball in an athletic position, and he makes the routine play. At the plate, Ethan starts in an athletic and tall stance. He loads his hands back into the drive position, he creates power with his lower half, and he has fast hands. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and improve his contact consistency. On the bump, Ethan gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and he rotates toward the plate. He needs to continue to have a loose arm action and work down hill in his delivery. Ethan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/19/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Salt Lake City, UT Ethan is an athletic RHP/SS prospect who will graduate in 2024. On the mound, Ethan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He rotates to his target and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Ethan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 67mph. Breaking ball sits from 54-58mph with 12-6 break. Changeup sits from 54-58mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Ethan shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid contact to his pull side. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
