07/31/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 6.98. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path with lower half working well through the swing. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. In the OF, he takes a quick first step and moves lightly on the balls of his feet. Range is a plus as reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Transfer is smooth with strong throws (84 mph velocity) through his cut off. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/21/2019 - College PREP - Omaha, NE Ethan is a lean OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he utilizes his quick feet well and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 2 years to further develop, Ethan has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
