02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Ethan is an athletic MIF prospect who showcased his skills during the Opening Day Classic. In the field, Ethan shows smooth footwork with a quick first step. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets into a simple load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a short swing with good extension, leading to loud/consistent contact. Overall, Ethan is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/06/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sacramento, CA Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an uphill swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

07/20/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Ethan is a LHH SS who can pick it. Defensively, he shows active prep moving lightly on the balls of his feet. He presents his glove, tracks GB's into a soft mitt and funnels smoothly to a quick/clean transfer. Continuing to strengthen his arm (long toss) will aid in his development on the left side of the INF. As a hitter, tis lefty shows a patient approach with fluid rhythm. He takes a hack on a short/direct path and squares the ball up consistently, spraying line-drives. More extension through contact will help to increase pop off of the barrel. Only a 2024 grad - Ethan is a talented SS prospect who has a very bright future in the game.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Ethan is a lean 2B who will graduate in 2024. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes good first steps in attacking the baseball. Glove action is soft / clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 6 years to further develop, Ethan has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
