12/19/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Franklin (College Station), TX Ethan is an athletic RHP/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Ethan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph. Breaking ball sits from 57-58mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 60-61mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Loosening his arm action can help Ethan improve his pitch command and velocity. In the field, Ethan shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. Ethan can build up his arm strength by long tossing. In the field, Ethan sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He drives through well with his lower half and works through a level swing, producing solid contact. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Ethan generate more consistent contact. Overall, Ethan is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

08/10/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Ethan is a RHP/2B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Ethan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He extends through his release well and finishes with a controlled landing. Ethan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph. Breaking ball sits from 53-55mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 58-59mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Loosening his arm action can help Ethan improve as a pitcher. In the field, Ethan shows efficient footwork and makes the routine plays. He throws from a low 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate with carry through his target. Ethan can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and gets great extension through his swing, producing solid contact to all fields. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Ethan improve as a hitter. Overall, Ethan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

01/26/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Mont Belvieu (Houston), TX Ethan showed only on the mound at the event where he has improved his abilities. He works entirely out of the stretch, showing a sound / repeatable delivery that allows his arm action to work free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 63 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with good depth. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 62 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/27/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Ethan worked out on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. On the hill, Ethan stands over the rubber well balanced and has a free arm action. He separates on time, lands with a proper length stride toward home, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. At the plate, Ethan has a square set-up, a short stride, and he makes hard contact. He gets the bat through the zone with some pop and taps into some lower body. Ethan can get better with work on the following.

01/06/2019 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Ethan is a young SS/OF prospect who will graduate in 2023. At SS, Ethan gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and works to make accurate throws to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Ethan improve as a SS. In the OF, Ethan fields the ball with soft hands and works to make accurate throws to his target. Making a quicker exchange can help Ethan improve as an OF. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He maintains center balance and works to barrel up the baseball. Ethan can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With four more years to develop, Ethan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
