Official Scouting Report

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Ethan is a well-rounded outfield prospect who is coachable and a great teammate. Offensively, Ethan has an open setup with a centered balanced and firm front side. He has fluid rhythm with a good load and short stride. Ethan has an aggressive approach and keeps his hands inside the baseball. He is a contact type hitter who deliver hard contact and can drive the baseball. In the field, Ethan plays with effective pre-pitch actions and active footwork doing a nice job tracking the baseball. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square, athletic position. Ethan has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball showing strong, accurate throws. Overall, Ethan has a feel for the game and upside to get even better.

03/04/2018 - College PREP - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Ethan is a solid, strong OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.01. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Ethan has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
