Official Scouting Report

  • OFPosition Projection

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Ethan is a fleet footed OF in the 2023 class. His speed (6.72) allows him to cover his defensive area better than most players. He has great pre-pitch movements and gets excellent reads off the bat. He squares up to the baseball and has pocket feel. His exchanges are quick and uses a ¾ slot for accurate feeds with life (84 velo). At the plate, he begins with a squared stance and a short stride. Loads his body well and his timing is smooth. He has a level path and can use the whole field. Hands are fast (87 exit velo) and his contact is consistent. Ethan is a next level player and his future college is receiving a rising star.

Exclusive College Recruiting Program Ethan is an athletic LH hitting CF out of Southern California with present tools, upside to his game and has been a performer on the High School and travel baseball circuit. With a fluid LH swing which generates bat speed and pull side power he will generate exit velocities into the 90 MPH range with lift to the pull side and HR power. He can stay backside of the field with authority and doubles power to oppo gap and his 6.6 speed makes him a threat on the bases at any point. Defensively, he has burst and a quick first step with feel for the ball in the air to profile as an above average CF defender at the next level with above average arm strength. His frame still has room to add strength which will take his present above average toolset to potential plus in the run, hit and defense category with power still to increase as well. Ethan is a dynamic prospect in the 2023 class and will be a good land for a college program.

01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Ethan injured his arm at the Pre-Season but got a few at bats. He is a tall/lefty OF who will graduate in 2023. At the plate, Ethan stands in the box with an open stance, he loads his hands back, and keeps a simple overall approach. He has good bat speed, a level swing path, and he works the middle of the field.

12/19/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Thousand Oaks, CA Ethan is a talented, L/L OF who graduates in 2023. In the OF, he takes a quick first step and moves well on the balls of his feet. He works behind and through the ball with a quick transfer tot throw. Throws are accurate with strength & carry into his target. With the bat, this lefty shows an open setup with centered balance. He has active hands with fluid rhythm tom load. Bat speed is quick with whip as he connects and creates good extension through the finish. He hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays it to all parts of the field. Kearney has a ton of skill with upside and is one to keep an eye on.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
