12/17/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Madison (NYC), NJ Ethan showed nice improvements in the OF and at the plate during his last workout. Arm and hitting grades both spiked. Defensively, Ethan has quick/fluid footwork, agile movements, and soft hands. He attacks the ball aggressively and throws with a quick release with carry to his target. On the mound, Ethan has good size, on time separation, and a still head on target. At the plate, hitting is solid, and has good balance. He has fast bat speed, a direct barrel to the ball, and he can hit to all fields.

08/03/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Ethan showed as a hard working player who is very coachable and is a great team player. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and squares up well with his body. He shows off his athletic ability on his turns / feeds of the double play. Presenting glove more out front will aid in improving defensive abilities. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path and aggressive approach. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 8 with a 3B. Ethan has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

07/06/2016 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Ethan is strong, young prospect who shows great athleticism athleticism at short and while hitting. At the plate, Ethan shows off advanced hitting instincts and unexpected power for a player his age. He has very fast hands, allowing him to handle any pitch thrown at him and has great bat speed, allowing hit impact the ball with authority. He also has a solid approach at the plate, showing good command of the zone while jumping on his pitch. Training his eyes to lock on to the pitcher's hand will allow Ethan to recognize pitches quicker and become an elite hitter. At short, Ethan has a mechanically sound approach and does a good job of consistently making routine plays, the hallmark of a reliable infielder. He also does a nice job of turning double plays quickly with a quick, clean exchange. Getting around the ball and playing through it will allow Ethan to take a big step towards becoming a great shortstop prospect. Ethan's combination of great size and solid tools at a young age make him a very exciting prospect moving forward.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
