Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

11/01/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frisco (DFW), TX Ethan is a LHP/1B prospect who will graduate in 2023. On the mound, Ethan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and finishes square to the plate. Ethan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 66mph. Breaking ball sits from 58-60mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 64-66mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Striding square toward the plate can help Ethan improve his pitch command. At 1B, Ethan fields with soft hands and has a clean exchange, working to make accurate throws to his target. Ethan can field ground balls more efficiently by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance with center balance. He hits against a strong front side and gets good extension through the ball, producing solid contact. Taking a shorter swing path can help Ethan barrel up more baseballs. Overall, Ethan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
