12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Ethan is a strong, well-built 3B prospect who plays the game hard. As a right-handed hitter, Ethan has a tall setup with good balance. He has an activated load with controlled rhythm. Ethan gets good extension at contact and is developing bat speed. He has good strength behind his barrel and produces hard contact. Ethan does a nice job engaging his core as he rotates. He is a line drive type hitter who stays inside the baseball. In the field, Ethan has a relaxed ready position and moves with active footwork. He takes effective angles and covers good ground in each direction laterally. Ethan presents his glove and fields the ball in a low fielding position. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate across the diamond. Overall, Ethan has the right approach on both sides of the ball and potential to get even better.

09/23/2018 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Ethan is a big, solid 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows solid hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Ethan has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
