07/05/2019 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Ethan showed great body language in the field and on the mound. At 2B Ethan showed quick footwork with a plus 1st step to the ball fielding with 2-hands. He works to get rid of the ball quickly with a short, quick arm action and makes accurate throws around the infield. Ethan showed a simple approach at the plate with low hands and a small load. His rhythm and timing are controlled and on time that allows him to have good barrel control. On the mound, Ethan showed the ability to command his FB at a high rate. He works out of the stretch separating on time and rotates getting his chest over his knee finishing his rotation. Ethan is a young prospect that has time to grow.

06/19/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Ethan is a young pitcher and second baseman with a high motor. In the field Ethan gets into an athletic ready position fielding the ball low and out front. His footwork at second shows as a strength and makes accurate throws around the diamond. A long toss program can help Ethan's arm strength. At the plate Ethan sets up in a square and athletic stance with a short and square stride. He works to get his lower half through and get on plane with the pitch making consistent contact. On the mound Ethan shows a FB/CH mix. He commands his FB well and shows signs of command with the CH. Ethan works from the stretch gathering well over his back foot and separating his hands on time. He strides in line and finishes with his chest over his knee. Ethan is a super positive individual and a great teammate. These attributes combined with a high motor will help Ethan's development.

01/13/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Honolulu, HI Ethan is a young, 2-way player who pitches and plays 2nd base. On the mound, Ethan has good balance, a loose/free arm circle, and he gets good extension on his pitches. He lands with good direction toward home, finishes completely, and throws strikes. At 2nd base, Ethan has good pre-pitch actions, he keeps the ball in front of his body, and he throws with direction across the diamond. At the plate, Ethan has a tall set-up, a short stride, and he makes consistent contact. He gets his lower body through at times and works the ball to the opposite field. Ethan can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Glove side lead
2. Arm strength
3. Off-speed

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
