01/14/2022 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex(Ages 14-18) Ethan is a coachable 2B/OF in the class of 2025 out of White Bluff, TN. At 2B, he did a good job of prepping on the balls of his feet to be ready to take great angles to the ball off the crack of the bat. He got square to the baseball in a low fielding position to catch and work through with a clean exchange. He followed his tosses/feeds to his intended targets. Offensively, he showed a short quick swing that was direct to the baseball. His bat path enabled him to hit the ball hard to all parts of the field. Ethan could benefit from programs/drills such as long toss, strength training, load timing drills, bands, speed & agility.

11/07/2021 - All-In Membership - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Ethan is a young, solid, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and OF. In the INF, Ethan has active feet, he covers ground well, and he fields in a square position. He makes plays, his release is quick, and he throws with accuracy from a short arm action across the diamond. If Ethan can field a little further out in front, play more through, and continue to add arm strength, abilities at 2B will continue to improve. In the OF, Ethan has efficient footwork, a good 1st step to the ball, and he fields squarely. He has good range, makes plays, and has a high 3/4 arm slot to his cut off man. Added arm strength, a quicker release, and more crow hop will help improve OF skills. At the plate, Ethan stands in the box squarely, he has good balance, and a fluid/smooth swing. He has quick hands, an aggressive swing, and he makes consistent contact gap to gap. Work on timing and more lower 1/2 will spike hitting numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
