Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/17/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (MS) Ethan is a 2B/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Ethan shows active footwork and moves well laterally. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate/on-line to his target. Long tossing can help Ethan build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half, spraying line drives to all fields. Ethan can create more consistent contact by working through a shorter swing path. On the mound, Ethan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Ethan operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 62mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 48-49mph with 11-5 break. Driving his lower half more can help Ethan increase his pitch velocity. With four more years to develop, Ethan has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Academic All-American Tournament (MS) Ethan is a class of 2025 2B/RHP prospect. At the plate, he showed good feel for the barrel throughout his BP round. Showed simple and repeatable mechanics. Did a good job hitting the baseball where pitched. Rotates and extends through the baseball often, this resulted in a hard hit single up the middle in game action. In the field, he does a very good job creating angles to the baseball. Athletic fielding position to start and good pre-pitch actions. Gets good reads off the bat and fields with his hands out front. On the mound, he showed good feel for all 3 of his offerings. In game action he did a very good job of pitching with his fastball to get ahead in counts. In 3 innings of work he did not allow a run while on his way to striking out 4. Ethan is a talented young prospect that we hope we can see again in the future.

08/23/2020 - Summer Pro Training Experience - MD (MS) Ethan continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He works on time and utilizes his lower half well through the swing. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, makes adjustments, and competes on the field.

06/23/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Frederick, MD Ethan is a 2B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 2B, Ethan shows quick footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He gains ground well on his throws and keeps them accurate to his target. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Ethan improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and takes a level swing, producing consistent contact to all fields. Ethan can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. With five more years to develop, Ethan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/19/2019 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Ethan is a young 2B/RHP that worked hard in Cape Cod. At 2B, Ethan shows good prep work with active feet. He shows a +1st step to the ball, fielding it square and on time. His exchanges are clean and makes throws with a loose arm action. Working on footwork speed and technique will improve Ethan's fielding ability. At the plate, Ethan sets up in an athletic and square stance with loose hands. His load is small with a short, soft stride and controlled rhythm. He keeps his swing short making consistent contact to all fields. Pitching, Ethan makes simple movements, gathers over the rubber with a relaxed knee lift as he separates on time. He has a clean arm action that accelerates forward keeping his chest over his knee. High tee drill and speed work will improve Ethan's game. Ethan is a hard working team mate with several years to grow.

03/10/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Ethan is young, thin, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and RHP. Defensively, Ethan has active feet, agile movements, and he moves well laterally. He squares up well to the ball, hands are clean, and he delivers the ball with accuracy to his target. On the mound, Ethan has good balance, a clean arm circle, and he separates on time. He works well to his balance point, has a controlled landing toward home, and competes in the zone. Offensively, Ethan has a square set-up, good balance, and he swings aggressively. He makes hard/consistent contact, and uses his lower body well. Overall skills can continue to improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
