01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ethan continues to develop and shows better each time we see him. He has a well-rounded skill set and natural instincts for the game. As a hitter, he has quick hands and a short, direct bat path that leads to line drive contact. In the infield, Ethan anticipates well - positioning properly, taking good angles and making plays look routine. His hands are soft and dependable.

07/10/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National East Shea had a solid showing at the event in the MIF. At SS, feet / hands work well together through the fielding process and he moves well laterally, displaying range. He is sure handed and presents well out front. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with carry to his throws. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ethan continues to show the upward trend of growth that continues to raise his ceiling. At short, he moved to the ball with quick feet, created good angles, and worked in front with a soft glove. He worked from the ground up to make plays and played through the fore-hand and back-hand to gain momentum. Offensively, he stayed inside at contact after getting to a good hitting position with soft actions and activated hands. He shows upside in the box with his contact approach. Athletically, he continues to improve foot speed running a 7.15 sixty, and a 4.59 H-1st. In all - we enjoy tracking Ethan's game and enjoy working with a respectable young man.

11/16/2014 - College PREP - Davie, FL Ethan has shown an upward trend of growth in his outings with Baseball Factory. Most recently, his actions at short have shown very playable with a sure glove and sound approach. His first step to the ball has become more efficient and is beginning to take him in a more direct path to make plays. Offensively, his hit ability has improved with added fluidity and pop through coordination with his hands and hips. He is straight to the ball with the barrel and is consistent with line-drive contact as long as he gets extended. Overall - Ethan is a intriguing prospect that continues to show growth and raise his ceiling of potential.

10/23/2013 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Ethan is an active middle infielder who showed well in Arizona. He maintains good body control and plays through the ball well. He has plus lateral movements and makes the tough plays in the hold. As a hitter, Shea remains athletic and has good rhythm, getting back into a strong loaded position. He is patient and waits for his pitch. He jumps on the ball and swings the barrel through the zone quickly. Shea is a hard worker who brings his all to the field every day.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Ethan is a young SS/RHP that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best at SS for the next level. Feet are active as he attacks ground balls and displays soft / clean hands well out front. He moves well laterally, displaying range in the MIF. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Shea shows a balanced setup with rhythm. He loads well and shows loose hands that work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. Lower half works well with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he adds more overall body strength. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-74 mph. Breaking ball displays sweeping shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Ethan has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
