06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Ethan is an athletic, 2-way player who continues to shine. In the OF, he covers a ton of ground with speed (running his 60 in an impressive 6.60). He secures the ball, gathers well and works in-line toward his target. At the plate, this RHH displays a balanced setup with rhythm to load. Swing path is level as he hits the ball where it's pitched with the ability to drive it the other way. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a low 3/4 arm slot. Separation is smooth as he stays directional toward the dish. FB tops out at 79 while showing good movement and tail, which gets in on the RHH's. Changeup has a slight drop as he keeps it down in the zone. Only a 2019, Snare has a solid skill-set with upside and time to progress.

05/15/2016 - College PREP - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Ethan showed on the mound and in the OF for the first time at the event. He has improved his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through a balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. In the OF, he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind the ball and plays through with momentum to his target. Hands/feet work well together with accuracy on his throws. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 79 mph. Fastball showed a range of 76-79 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

07/14/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Snare showed in the MIF in at the event and continues to show a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average and he utilizes his quick /athletic feet well in his lateral movements, displaying range. He attacks balls and displays clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he presents hands well out front. Throws are accurate, flashing carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He also showed well in the OF. At the plate, hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. At the event, he was 2 for 3 with a 2B and 3 BB as he displays a solid eye at the plate. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and works hard to be the best player he can be.

03/29/2015 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Ethan is a 6'3/170 lbs prospect that plays short and pitches. Offensively, he hits with good balance from the ground up and works to get to a good hitting position, on-time. He was direct and level with his path and quick with his hands to accelerate the barrel through the zone. He rotated his core to aid in his pop and got extended out in front. Loosening his actions and implementing more load with his hands will boost fluidity and hard contact frequency. At short, he made routine plays and had a good idea of the position. He got to his fielding position on-time and secured the ball with a sure glove. He was aggressive to come get slow rollers and was accurate to throw from multiple slots. On the hill, he threw his FB with run from 73-77, spun a 10/4 CB from 57-59, and showed a Ch with run from 70-72. He gathered himself over the rubber, worked his body in-line to the dish, and had loose arm action to deliver pitches. More lower half drive and a more flexible finish - getting his chest over his front knee - are keys to velocity bumps and greater command. In all - Ethan is a very young player that has a bright future ahead of him as he strengthens his fundamental ability.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
