01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying solid hitting / power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has a strength with gap-to-gap pop. At SS, he displays fluid / smooth actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and plays with a ton of energy. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Range will increase as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Fastball showed a range of 78-79 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ethan continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to sine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/03/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Mobile, AL Ethan is a strong, solid, 2-way player with good skills at both SS and on the mound. Defensively, Ethan has quick/active feet, agile movements, and he fields athletically. He has good pre-pitch actions, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy and momentum across the diamond. On the mound, Ethan has good balance, a loose arm circle, and good direction toward home. He separates on time and he competes in the zone. Offensively, Ethan has a square/athletic stance, good balance, and fast bat speed. He makes hard contact gap to gap and he uses his lower body. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Stay relaxed
2. Play lower
Pitching
1. Off-speed
2. Arm strength
Offense
1. Load/stride
2. Let ball travel

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
