  • C/RHPPosition Projection

05/22/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Spokane, WA Ethan is a C/RHP prospect who continues to show well on the diamond. Behind the dish, Ethan is agile moving to block and keeps dirt balls in front of him. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws with carry through the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH shows an advanced approach through an open setup. He gets into his load well and hits against a strong front side. He generates explosive bat speed through the zone and drives the ball to all fields. On the mound, Ethan gathers over the rubber and works with a clean arm. He stays inline toward the plate and finishes with his chest square to his target. Ethan operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 67-69mph with late 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 73-75mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Ethan is a talented prospect who has the skillset to contribute at the next level.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Ethan, who recently shined at the FL Preseason All-American Tournament, is a solid catching prospect in the 2023 class out of Coeur D Alene, ID. Has the frame (6’0/165) with potential for further strength and agility. Behind the plate, works with fluid feet and has the agility and flexibility to sit under the baseball. Receives in a squared athletic stance and has strong pocket feel. Throws from a loose OT slot with consistent accuracy and outstanding carry. Releases at 2.20 and with a quicker exchange from catch to release, will be sub 2.0. At the plate, he displays aggressive line drive power (80 exit velo) to all fields. Begins in a slightly open stance and loads into his legs well with excellent hand separation. Has barrel feel with a short and on-plane attack angle. Leading with the hips prior to engaging his hands will create further extension. Overall, Ethan made some noise on the weekend and attracted the attention of several scouts.

09/22/2021 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Ethan continues to show as a prospect at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. At 3B, he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases his foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he shows a controlled, repeatable delivery allowing his quick arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 76-78 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. He pitched 2 innings and struck out 4 in his outing. He shows a great feel for pitching and maintains composure on the bump. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
