  • LHPPosition Projection

06/21/2021 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Ethan is a LHP that is in the graduation class of 2022. He shows off a tall frame and a physical body with additional room to grow. On the mound, he shows good presence with confidence and clean mechanics overall. He throws all 3 of his pitches from a high arm slot. His best pitch is his fastball that was thrown early in the count for strikes in the 84-85 MPH range with some late arm side run. Showed feel for a 2-8 shaped breaking ball with some depth. Also flashed a changeup that was 73-74 and thrown with good arm speed. Showed a good ability to fill up the strike zone. Pitched 2+ innings and struck out 3 hitters in game. Ethan is a talented and physical prospect who should have the chance to compete at the next level.

04/11/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Salem (Roanoke), VA Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.28 runner. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable, allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 78-82 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Walker continues to prove effective on the mound, this time at the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. On the bump, he maintains fluid tempo and works at his pace. He has smooth separation, level shoulders and he drives in-line toward the dish. FB has good arm-side run and gives hitters a tough time trying to square it up. Curveball has 1/7 shape with late action as he can throw it for strikes in any count. Changeup shows late run - complimenting his FB well. Pickoff move is quick and deceptive and he gives runners multiple looks. As a hitter, this lefty shows a balanced stance with active hands working back into a loaded position. He engages his lower 1/2, fires the barrel, and connects, hitting line-drives to all parts of the field. Ethan has upside and till toe the rubber and complete in this only his junior season.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.38 runner. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 84 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop.

08/09/2020 - All-In Membership - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Ethan is a hard working 2-way player who continues to progress. On the mound, this crafty lefty pounds the zone with strikes. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and stays directional toward the dish. FB now ranges from 78-79 mph while showing good tailing action. Breaking ball shows 2/8 shape with good action - 63-64 mph. Changeup has good tail and is thrown with FB arm speed, helping to create deception and complimenting his FB well. He works the ball in and out and will challenge hitters. In the OF, he has active prep and covers a ton of ground right and left. Hands are soft with a clean transfer to throw. At the plate, this lefty has a balanced stance with rhythm too load. He takes an aggressive hack and sprays the ball to all parts of the field. Walker is a skilled 2-way prospect with upside who should find success in this his junior year.

02/22/2020 - Baseball Factory Mid-Atlantic Combined Skills Training - Columbia, MD (Ages 14-18) Ethan works from a confident set up with a good "feel" for pitching. He is aggressive, works to get ahead and can throw all three pitches for strikes. He is on time with his delivery and has a good arm action both back and front. Overall is a solid fundamentally. At the plate, he works from an athletic set up in a fluid approach. He is on plane with his swing which produces consistent hard contact in a line drive approach. He'll continue improvement with increased consistency in his approach.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ethan continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is sure and presents well front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 56-61 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but will benefit by developing more movement on pitch. Control is solid as the throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is plus as he is very coachable and is a hard worker.

09/23/2017 - FDI Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (12-14) Ethan is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent contact and line drives to the gaps. Ethan can improve as a hitter by consistently keeping his bat from wrapping behind his head in his load. With five more years to develop, Ethan has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Ethan is an athletic 1B/LHP who continues to improve his game. At the plate, he starts from an athletic stance with a simple approach and quiet body. He fires his backside well and keeps his hands direct to the baseball. Ethan lets the ball get deep in the zone which allows him to drive the ball hard to the opposite field. At first base, he showed good feet and fielded the ball out in front of his body making every routine play. He is solid around the bag as he moved his feet around the bag when he had to and dug out every ball in the dirt. On the mound, Ethan throws from a high 3/4 arm slot showing a fastball and a curveball. He showed the ability to move his pitches around the zone and used his breaking ball in good situations. Increasing arm strength will help him command his fastball better. With four years to develop, Ethan has a bright future.

03/26/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Ashburn (DC), VA Ethan is a LHP/1B who will graduate in 2022. On the mound, this lefty gathers over the rubber and delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot. He gets to a strong balance point and works a 3-pitch mix in and around the zone. At 1B, he displays active footwork as he fields Gb's with soft hands. He has a quick/clean exchange and a good feel for the double play. Offensively at the plate, Ethan presents an athletic setup getting back into a load. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
