Official Scouting Report

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Ethan is a hard-working athletic two-way player who is more developed at short. He shows feel to hit with hand-eye coordination to deliver the barrel consistently. He is smooth in the box to load and launch through the zone. His path is on plane and lower half works well to generate bat speed to make square contact. Footwork is aggressive at short working around the ball and showing range. He goes to the backhand well and turns a quick DP with accurate feeds and throws. On the mound, he pitches with intent and works quickly to keep hitters off balance. His fastball has sink at 53mph and he shows a 12-6 curveball and deceptive changeup. Extension through release will improve late action on his pitches. Ethan is a player with lots of potential on the field.

04/08/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Billings, MT Ethan is a young, lean, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Ethan has active feet, he presents his glove well, and he fields smoothly. He fields in an athletic position, has a quick exchange, and throws with a long arm action with carry and consistency across the diamond. On the mound, Ethan has a compact delivery, a clean arm circle, and a controlled landing toward home plate. Offensively, Ethan has a square set-up, a short stride, and solid balance. He has fast bat speed, makes hard/consistent contact, and can spray the ball to all fields. Ethan can improve with work on the following.

2. Fielding position
3. Long toss
Pitching

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
