01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ethan continues to show as a prospect on the baseball diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Feet / hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with zip (83 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength (83 mph exit velocity) in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side.

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Ethan is a talented and athletic 2020 2-way player. At 1B, Ethan has efficient foot work off the bag and fields the ball in an athletic position. He works from the ground up and creates angles on double play balls. At the plate, Ethan starts in a squared stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He hits off a firm front side, stays balanced through contact, and shows pull side pop. Continuing to stay behind the ball and using the lower half will allow him to drive the ball to all fields. On the bump, Ethan gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and rotates toward his target. He shows good tempo in his delivery and attacks both sides of the plate. Continuing his agility work and staying versatile on the field will elevate his game to the next level. Ethan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. At the plate is where he has improved the most through a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-71 mph with tailing action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/08/2017 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Ethan is a big 1st baseman who will graduate in 2020. He has good size, efficient footwork, and he presents his glove well. Ethan fields in a square position, he keeps the ball in front of his body, and has a clean exchange with accuracy to his target. Defense can improve with a softer glove, playing more through the ball, and added arm strength. Offensively, Ethan has a crouched stance, he swings in good rhythm, and shows solid balance. He swings a level bat with some bat speed through the baseball. Hitting numbers will get better by shortening the swing, letting the ball travel deeper, and working on his stride/load.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
