Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

07/17/2010 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Evan showed improvements in his game both in the INF and on the mound at Team One West. He lowered his 60 time from 7.57 to 7.35, and increased his radar velocity from 76 to 84 MPH. In the INF, Evan has playable hands, he moves through the ball well, and he makes plays. He gets good extension to the ball with his glove and throws with an accurate / loose arm to his target. Better rhythm and body control will help Evan improve in the INF. On the mound, Evan works ahead of hitters and he competes in the zone. He has a sneaky fast 84 MPH FB and solid off-speed pitches to compliment it. Evan has good overall mechanics and has good glove side lead. Better extension and added arm strength will help mound effectiveness further improve. Offensively, Evan has good bat speed, a level swing path, and he works to stay inside the baseball. He has a straight / soft stride and he can spray the ball to all fields. Hitting can continue to improve with added strength and more lower 1/2.

09/27/2009 - College PREP - Santa Barbara, CA Evan is a young two-way player at SS plus as a RHP with tall, thin body that shows projection as he continues to fill out. Currently, he projects best at SS for the next level. Foot speed is average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active in coming to get the baseball but needs to be more aggressive in playing through the baseball with his feet and hands. He moves well laterally, displaying range with a soft, sure glove action in making all the plays. Defensive abilities are solid average in the middle of the IF. Arm strength is solid average through a short arm stroke, showing some carry across the diamond. He needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry on throws. At the plate, hitting abilities and power are solid average through a balanced approach. He loads well, showing a solid feel for the barrel. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed but needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Swing path gets long with barrel getting out around the ball. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 71-76 mph on a downhill plane that creates tough angles on hitters. Breaking balls displays 12/6 shape with loose spin. Changeup is average. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Abraham has potential and will get looks from the college coaches with his abilities at SS and at the plate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
