Official Scouting Report

  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

05/08/2016 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Evan continues to show improvements in his baseball tools with a promising future on the diamond. He showed at 1B for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He has strength in his swing, displaying gap to gap pop. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / clean as he presents on time. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Fastball showed a range of 76-80 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with downward break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Control is well above average are he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

06/06/2015 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Evan is a talented 2-way player as a RHP/3B. On the bump, this righty has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point, maintains level shoulders and stays directional toward the plate. He has sound mechanics with on-time separation. FB cracks the mitt at 80 mph as he can hit his spots well. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape while changeup is best off-speed pitch showing sink & cut. At 3B, Evan shows active prep footwork as he's ready to go right or left. He works into a square fielding position. Gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Continuing to develop his footwork/agility will help to improve his abilities at 3B. With the bat, Bara shows a balanced approach with rhythm in his hands. Swing path is level as he drives the ball back up the middle of the field. Striding more square and utilizing more or his lower 1/2 will result in increased pop off of the barrel. Only a 2017 grad - Evan has skills with still a couple years to develop.

09/21/2014 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Evan is an athletic, 6'0"/160 RH 1B. At 1B, he shows good prep footwork and works on the balls of his feet. His throws are on a line with good body control. Increased quickness and improved footwork around the bag will elevate his play at 1B. At the plate, he has a square setup with good balance. His hands are activated and move in a direct path to the ball. With his level bat path and extension it allows him to work through the middle of the field. Evan has a bright future with a solid all-around skill set.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
