01/16/2009 - Under Armour Preseason All America - 2009
Evan continues to show steady improvements in the baseball abilities. He still shows as a two way player but does project best in the middle of the IF at the present time. Hitting grades have improved the most now showing near above average ability and power. He keeps hands inside the baseball, utilizing the entire field. Swing path is level and shows a solid feel for the barrel. He was 2 for 5 at the event. Arm strength is solid but does need to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing arm strength and raise velocities. Defensively, Carr shows as a polished infielder displaying and aggressive approach with his feet and hands. Glove action is soft and sure, and presented well out front. On the mound, abilities were not up to the ability that we have seen in the past. Evan has the makings to be a solid middle infielder at the collegiate level.
10/26/2008 - National Tryout - Atlanta, GA
Evan is a young two way player on the mound and at SS. He has a tall, lean body that does show future projection as it continues to physically mature. Currently, he projects best in the middle of the infield where he shows off his athletic ability. Foot speed is near above average as indicated by his 7.03 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in coming to get and playing through ground balls. His feet are active and aggressive showing plus range. Glove action is soft, sure, and he makes all the plays. Arm strength is above average as indicated by his top velo of 85 mph. His throws display life, carry, and accuracy across the diamond. At the plate, Carr has solid average ability and power. Bat speed is a plus through a level swing path. He hits a lot of line drives with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. On the mound, Evan has potential and with 2 years to further develop, he could be a legit two way guy. He throws a nasty knuckleball. Evan will draw a lot of attention to himself from the college coaches with his athletic abilities in the middle of the infield.
