Official Scouting Report

  • 4Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

02/18/2024 - National Showcase - Keizer (Salem), OR Evan is an athletic 6ft/175 3B/RHP in the 2025 class. He continues to make improvements and creates forward progress with each Factory event. Defensively, he shows active feet and gains ground to the ball with aggressive and controlled actions. Squares his body in his fielding position and his hands prove to be soft. Redirects with clean actions and gains a quick release from a 3 qtr. slot. Displays athleticism by using numerous arm slots as well when he is fielding in different defensive zones. Arm works at 79 velo and is accurate to his targets. On the mound, he shows a good presence and balance. He operates with a 3-pitch mix from a high 3 qtr. slot. His FB sat 73-4 with tailing actions. His SL ranged 61-6 with 10-4 shape and medium break. His split has FB arm speed for deception and sat 62-5. Working to control his off-speed in the zone will compliment his moving FB. At the plate, he shows power to the pull side at 89 exit velo. The ball jumps off the bat from his smooth timing. Path is direct and he gains full extension through the zone. Overall, Evan is a solid two-way prospect in the 2025 class and scouts are eager to see where his game takes him.

01/21/2022 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (HS) Evan continues to shine with his baseball abilities. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active but needs work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball showed a range of 70-73 mph. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with early break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/25/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Keizer (Salem), OR Evan is a SS/OF prospect who will graduate in 2025. In the field, Evan makes the routine plays and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Evan make more plays. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and works to barrel up the baseball, spraying the ball to all fields. Evan can barrel up more baseballs by maintaining center balance throughout his swing. With five more years to develop, Evan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
