03/04/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Evan improved his foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he continues to show best through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. At 3B, he shows smooth clean actions. He displays proper footwork in creating proper angles in attacking and playing through balls with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/12/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Midland, TX Evan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying solid hitting / power potential through a tall, open setup with balance. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth, clean actions. Feet are active and fluid as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry on his throws. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Evan is a tall, solid, and athletic 3B who will graduate in 2019. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he uses his lower half more efficiently. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes good first steps in attacking the baseball. Glove action is soft / clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 2 years to further develop, Evan has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
