01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Evan is a solid athlete that performed well with his 6'1/185 lbs frame, both offensively and defensively in his recent outing with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he hit with good rhythm and made consistently hard contact with strong core rotation to get him through the zone. He drove with his lower half and worked up the middle with his approach, hitting a single and a double in his ABs. In the OF, he prepped his feet to engage the lower half and enable a quick first step to the ball. He took good routes/angles and secured the ball with a sure glove. His defensive game was highlighted by a wowing, diving catch in right field. All in all - Evan is a junior that looks to turn heads this spring season.

06/03/2015 - Under Armour Southeast Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Evan continues to impress. He is a gamer who leaves it all of the field. Offensively, this RHH battled every at-bat and proved to be a tough out. He has rhythm in his hands, whips the barrel with bat speed through the zone and connects with pop. He hits the ball where it's pitched showing the ability to drive the gaps. In the OF, Evan covers a ton of ground with speed. He gathers well and gains ground toward his target firing strong/accurate throws with carry. He is a coachable player who gives 110% every time he steps onto the diamond. Only a 2017 grad - Huffman is an exciting player to keep an eye on.

10/22/2014 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Evan is a young OF that showed sound ability competing in the tournament setting at the UA So Cal Classic with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he took good routes and angles to make plays with a consistent glove. He reacted quickly on his jumps and worked to feel a repeatable release point to throw. Offensively, he had good balance and generated good bat speed to hit. He was accurate with the barrel to contact and flashed raw power. More lower half use and more hand involvement will help to get the barrel on a more direct route, leaving the shoulders in line. In all - Evan is a great kid that brings a coachable attitude to the ball park day in and day out.

09/07/2014 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Evan is a solid, athletic OF that will graduate in 2017. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.41 60 time. Defensive grade are solid, displaying smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his aggressive / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate with carry as he displays solid arm strength as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows a balanced / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. With 3 years to further develop, Evan has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
