08/23/2023 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Trenton, NJ Evan is a talented 3B/RHP in the 2025 class. In the field, he shows solid footwork and pre-pitch movement. Gains ground to the baseball and establishes a squared fielding position. Arm plays across the diamond and is on-line to the targets. Working to sink his hip will allow his glove to more in front for a natural transfer. On the mound, he works with great tempo from a high 3 qtr slot. Creates great balance and stays directional to his target. His FB sat 75-5 and was in the zone. His CB shows 11-5 shape and ranged 67-8 on the bottom half of the zone. His CH has deception and sat 71-2. At the plate, he has an excellent set-up and looks athletic in the box. Uses his long levels to generate bat speed (80 exit velo) and keeps his barrel in the zone. Overall, Evan is a solid two-way prospect in the 2025 class.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Evan Johnson is a two way player in the 2025 class. The 3B/RHP has a good frame and his defensive abilities are impressive. He has good feet, athletic movements, and comes through the ground ball well. As he continues to develop he will become more comfortable at the 3B position. On the mound he has present arm strength and features a two pitch arsenal. With those qualities combined with his clean mechanics give him a chance to see an uptick in velocity quickly. At the plate he tracks the ball well and makes consistent hard contact.

07/19/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Trenton, NJ Evan is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. Strength present, and plenty of room to add throughout. At 3B, shows active feet and good lateral range. He shows good 1st step reads, with ability to pick out hops, while creating good fielding angles. Works into a square fielding position with good glove actions. Clean exchange into a 3/4 arm slot, with a short arm, and his throws were accurate to first base. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and has a good rear hip coil. He works with good tempo and separates his hands on time. Throws a FB that sits 68-72mph with some arm side run, a breaking ball with 11/5 shape, and a developing splitter that moves like a changeup. CB was his best pitch during his bullpen session. A right-handed hitter who hits from an even and athletic stance. Keeps his hands inside the baseball, with a good bat angle at contact, and gets lower half through. During his round of BP, he sprayed the ball to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 65mph. With continued growth and development, we see this 2-way prospect having opportunities to play at the next level.

02/27/2021 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching/Catching & Offensive Skills Combined Weekend Evan is a RHP prospect who worked hard during the Mid-Atlantic Skills Weekend. On the mound, Evan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and accelerates through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Evan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph. Breaking ball sits from 58-59mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 62-63mph with tailing action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Long tossing can help Evan build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance with center balance. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a direct swing with decent bat speed and produces consistent contact. Evan can generate more pop off the barrel by continuing to add strength. With four more years to develop, Evan has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

02/29/2020 - Baseball Factory Mid-Atlantic Combined Skills Training - Columbia, MD (Ages 12-14) Evan continues to get better each time we see him, and the Skills Weekend was no different. He made improvements in several of the measurable categories - one of which was exit velocity, where he went from 61 mph up to 67 mph. He swung the bat well throughout the weekend showing a quiet head with a balanced, smooth stroke. He uses the entire field well with lots of gap-to-gap line drives coming off his bat. As he refines his front side action he will continue to unlock even more in his swing. On the mound Evan showed an advanced 3-pitch mix with a FB that was up to 63 mph, an impressive curve with tight spin and good feel for a change. He works downhill and has a clean arm stroke with solid overall mechanics on the mound. The good news is that there is still more in his lower half. Overall, Evan is a talented 2-way player with a bright future.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Evan is a coachable 2B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Winter Classic. Increasing his lateral range can help Evan improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He is on time getting his hands activated in his load and works to barrel up the baseball, spraying to all fields. Evan can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Evan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing square to his target. Evan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 61mph. Breaking ball sits at 53mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 55mph with sinking action. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Evan improve as a pitcher. With five more years to develop, Evan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

08/09/2019 - Baseball Factory Advanced Analytics & Pro Training Experience (Ages 12-14) Evan is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Analytics Training Weekend. Evan gave great effort during athletic testing and got his 60 time as low as 9.95 second. Loosening his hips can help Evan improve his athleticism. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He drives through well with his lower half and takes a level swing, driving the ball into the gaps. Evan can improve as a hitter by working on his contact points. In the field, Evan takes a good first step and gets into position on time. He works through the ball well and gets rid of it quickly. With seven more years to develop, Evan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/09/2017 - Accelerated Hitting Weekend PHS- Columbia, MD Evan is a hard working and coachable player that made several adjustments during the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, Evan starts in a tall stance and has a long stride. He loads his hands back and stays balanced through contact. Creating separation will allow him to get his front foot down on time and help recognize pitches. Attacking the inside part of the ball will keep Evan on plane and help him stay through the ball longer. Driving his lower half into the ball will free up his hands and help him drive the ball to all fields. Evan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/15/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Evan is a R/R SS who will graduate in 2025. Defensively at SS, he moves well with active footwork and fields GB's in a square position. He funnels the ball with soft hands and has a clean exchange to throw. With the stick, this righty shows a square setup with fluid rhythm to load. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
