Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

02/22/2015 - National Tryout - Mechanicsburg (Harrisburg), PA Evan has developed a very good cut change-up since his last outing with Baseball Factory. On the mound, he showed good rhythm to deliver his pitches and was around the zone with all three; FB, CB, & CH. He was clean with his mechanics and topped his cut fastball out at 78, while spinning an 11/5 CB at 55-61, and his CH at 66-70. He also flashed feel for a SPL at 70-71 and should start to throw that pitch more frequently. Offensively, he stayed behind the ball at contact and got good extension through the ball. Staying compact with his delivery is essential to further growth. Defensively at the hot corner, he made plays with efficient feet and sure hands. Developing rhythm and fluidity to field and throw will increase play ability. All in all - Evan is a promising player with loose actions that has another 2.5 years to strengthen for next level play.

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Evan is a young two way player that plays 3B and also pitches. In the infield he has a quick first step, good body control, and fields with firm hands. He has a quick exchange and makes accurate throws with good carry across the diamond. At the plate he made consistent contact during games and showed an advanced approach. He can spray the ball to all fields and he has a nice level swing. On the mound Evan uses his big frame to throw a heavy fastball with good sink. His curve has a nice 10/4 shape and he commands this pitch well giving him a solid 2 pitch mix. He works fast and pounds the zone with both pitches. Should be a viable option in the infield or on the mound as he moves forward in the game.

09/28/2014 - College PREP - Scranton, PA Evan is a corner infielder who graduates in 2017. At 3B, Evan has an active pre-pitch routine with his hands out in front. He has active footwork to 1B moving right to left with momentum. He gets rid of the ball quickly with a clean exchange. Offensively, he has a square setup with good balance in his stance. Swing path is quick & level as he connects and drives the ball up the middle of the field. He does a good job of staying back and tracking the pitch deep into the zone. Extension through contact and staying long through the zone will give Evan added success. He is a few adjustments away from unlocking his potential.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
