12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Evan is an athletic and talented 2023 SS prospect that worked hard all week. At SS, Evan is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and anticipates the ball off the bat. He has a great first step to the ball and has range on both sides of the ball. He has good turns on double plays and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Evan starts in an athletic stance, hits off a firm front side, and rotates his hips to the ball. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and create backside rotation with his lower half. Evan is a quiet leader and will continue to improve with experience.

07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Evan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time, now an above average runner at 7.28. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

04/15/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Evan is a young SS with good athleticism. Defensively, Evan has active footwork, he presents his glove well, and fields athletically. He moves well laterally, works the double play well, and throws with accuracy from a short arm action to his target. At the plate, Evan has an open stance, he swings aggressively, and keeps a still head. He stays inside the ball well and makes hard contact to the pull side. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Play more through
2. Loosen arm action
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Swing path
2. Rhythm
3. Separation

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
