Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Evan is a 1B prospect in the class of 2022. Tall frame athletic build, with a strong lower half, who has plenty of room to add muscle. Left-handed hitter starts with a tall and even stance. Good hip turn, with good extension through contact, and an aggressive approach at the plate. Ability to backspin balls into both gaps. Showed good plate discipline drawing a BB and hitting a double in live game action. At 1B, he starts with active feet. Showed a good glove angle on his backhand while keeping his eyes behind glove. Created good angles and ability to pick out hops. Good bag awareness at first base. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher gathers over the rubber and gets to a good balance point. Works with good direction down the mound. Clean arm action in the back with an over-the-top arm slot coming forward. His FB topped out at 80mph with some sinking action. Mixed in a 1/7 shaped breaking ball with good depth through the strike zone. With another year of continued growth and development, we foresee him having opportunities to play at the next level.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Evan is a 2022 LHP. Tall frame with a stocky type build showing strength throughout the frame, especially the lower half. Primary Left-handed P, works with a small rocker step to a belt high lift out of the windup. Sits on back leg and then drives down the mound. Full arm circle in the back before releasing from a 3/4 arm slot. Good job extending out front. Has a tendency to stride closed and throw across body. Good feel for a 1/7 moving breaking ball that he landed for strikes. Mixed up his pitches and knew how to get outs. Recorded 6 K’s in 3 innings of work. With small mechanical adjustments, we foresee Evan having a bright future at the next level.

12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Evan is a tall, athletic LHP/1B who continues to work hard on his game. From the mound, this lefty showed a three-pitch mix while throwing a lot of strikes. He maintains good tempo and repeats well. FB had run at 76, and CH had deceptive arm speed with run. CB has 1/7 shape with good action showing to be a solid out pitch. At 1B, he hustles right and left and tracks GB's into a soft mitt. He has a clean exchange while getting rid of the ball quickly from a clean arm action. His throws were accurate and strong across the diamond. At the plate, he displays good bat speed from a tall/open stance. Evan has a great presence from the left side of the box with a projectable frame. He showed a level/on-plane swing path favoring his pull side. Evan is a solid 2-way player who has upside.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Evan continues to improve his abilities on the mound. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with late / sharp break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop.

03/01/2020 - College PREP - Santa Rosa, CA Evan is a tall, athletic LHP that is a high volume strike thrower with all three pitches. He pitches from a balanced approach with on-time separation. His CB is his best pitch. He will continue to improve by staying in line with his target and finishing his pitches consistently. At the plate, he is a spray hitter that makes good contact. He'll continue improvement by gaining ground with his stride back at the pitcher more consistently. At 1B, he makes all the routine plays and displays good double play feeds. He can work to get to a better, athletic fielding position more consistently.

07/08/2019 - Baseball Factory Cleveland All Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Evan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. He stands over the rubber well, throwing strikes with all of his pitches. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 74 mph. Fastball showed a range of 71-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Defensively, his feet play well, and he moves with good body control to the baseball, displaying proper footwork around bag. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Evan is a tall and athletic 2022 2-way prospect that works hard and is well mannered. At 1B, Evan has good footwork around the bag and makes good double play feeds. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Evan starts in a squared stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He Keeps a quiet head and keeps the barrel on plane. He needs to continue to rotate his back hip to the ball and gets extension through the ball. On the bump, Evan gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and gets downhill. He repeats his mechanics but needs to continue to extends thru his release point. Evan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Evan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
