Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

06/19/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Evan showed very well out in Omaha with advanced abilities at 1B and Pitching. In the field Evan has a + first step to the ball with good back hand range. He fields the ball with a soft and sure glove and makes clean exchanges with the ability to throw from multiple arm slots. His throws are accurate and strong with carry around the infield. At the plate Evan has an athletic set up with loose hands. He creates great rhythm and fires his lower half through to create a firm front side. His swing is compact with fast bat speed making consistent and hard contact especially to the pull side. On the bump Evan showed a FB/CB mix with a + feel for the CB. The FB has some cut to it at times and the CB showed 11-5 shape with a sharp action. He works from the stretch gathering over the rubber and separates fluid and on time. His acceleration down the mound creates good rotation into a controlled landing. Evan makes other players around him better with his natural abilities and his work effort to get better. Even as a young prospect Evan shows a lot of potential.

12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Evan is an athletic and talented 2023 1B prospect that has a good feel for the game. At 1B, Evan is on time with his pre step, he presents a low/early glove, and works off the bag well. He has good foot work on double plays and makes accurate throws. He has a good idea on cut off but needs to continue improve his range. At the plate, Evan starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He rotates his hips into the ball and stays balanced through contact. He needs to continue to be aggressive in his lower half and attack the inside part of the ball. Evan is a hard worker and will continue to improve with experience.

10/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Santa Rosa, CA Evan is a tall, 2-way player who plays 1B and OF. In the INF, Evan has active feet, agile movements, and presentable hands. He has good pre-pitch actions, fields in a low position, and his exchange is quick with accuracy and momentum to his target. In the OF, Evan has agile movements, he reads the ball off the bat well, and makes plays consistently with an accurate arm to his target. At the plate, Evan has a square set-up, he keeps his hands inside the ball, and he makes consistent contact. He swings on plane, gets good extension through, and hits with some strength to the pull side. Evan can further improve with work on the following.

1. Bag awareness
2. Quicken feet
1. Quicken 1st step
2. Aggressiveness
1. Load
2. Rhythm
3. Lower body

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
