09/23/2020 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Evan is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who showed well during the Arizona Fall Classic. In the field, Evan shows efficient footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He fields with soft hands and has a clean exchange. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a soft stride. He gets into a small load and hits against a strong front side. He rotates his core through the zone and generates fast bat speed, leading to solid line drives. On the mound, Evan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and keeps his pitches around the zone. Evan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 85mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 71mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits at 74mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Evan is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

03/01/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Santa Rosa, CA Evan is a lean 1B/RHP that has potential to be a two-way player. At 1B, he shows good range, reactive, quick hands, and with an accurate arm. Overall has a good feel for 1B play. At the plate, he works with a good load and used the field well with good barrel accuracy. As a pitcher, Sandovol is a strike thrower with all three pitches. He has an on-time separation and uses his lower half well with good extension in his pitches.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Evan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve his foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 2 for 4 with a 2B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Fastball showed a range of 75-79 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/16/2019 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Evan is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Arizona Fall Classic. In the field, Evan makes the routine plays and flashes the ability to finish. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate on double play feeds. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Evan improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a soft stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated in his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Evan can improve as a hitter by continuing to add strength. On the mound, Evan shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 62-64mph with good movement. Striding square towards the plate can help Evan improve as a pitcher. Overall, Evan is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills on the field.

06/19/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Evan showed very well out in Omaha with advanced abilities at 1B and Pitching. In the field Evan has a + first step to the ball with good back hand range. He fields the ball with a soft and sure glove and makes clean exchanges with the ability to throw from multiple arm slots. His throws are accurate and strong with carry around the infield. At the plate Evan has an athletic set up with loose hands. He creates great rhythm and fires his lower half through to create a firm front side. His swing is compact with fast bat speed making consistent and hard contact especially to the pull side. On the bump Evan showed a FB/CB mix with a + feel for the CB. The FB has some cut to it at times and the CB showed 11-5 shape with a sharp action. He works from the stretch gathering over the rubber and separates fluid and on time. His acceleration down the mound creates good rotation into a controlled landing. Evan makes other players around him better with his natural abilities and his work effort to get better. Even as a young prospect Evan shows a lot of potential.

12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Evan is an athletic and talented 2023 1B prospect that has a good feel for the game. At 1B, Evan is on time with his pre step, he presents a low/early glove, and works off the bag well. He has good foot work on double plays and makes accurate throws. He has a good idea on cut off but needs to continue improve his range. At the plate, Evan starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He rotates his hips into the ball and stays balanced through contact. He needs to continue to be aggressive in his lower half and attack the inside part of the ball. Evan is a hard worker and will continue to improve with experience.

10/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Santa Rosa, CA Evan is a tall, 2-way player who plays 1B and OF. In the INF, Evan has active feet, agile movements, and presentable hands. He has good pre-pitch actions, fields in a low position, and his exchange is quick with accuracy and momentum to his target. In the OF, Evan has agile movements, he reads the ball off the bat well, and makes plays consistently with an accurate arm to his target. At the plate, Evan has a square set-up, he keeps his hands inside the ball, and he makes consistent contact. He swings on plane, gets good extension through, and hits with some strength to the pull side. Evan can further improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
