  • SS/OFPosition Projection

10/23/2016 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Evan is an athletic SS/OF prospect who has great raw tools. In the infield, Evan plays with quick and active footwork taking effective angles to cover good ground. He fields the ball athletically with a firm glove. Evan has a quick, clean exchange leading into a short arm action from a high 3/4 slot. He release is quick and his throws are online with good velocity. Offensively, Evan has a square stance with a good load and short stride towards the pitcher. He uses his lower half throughout his swing with fluid rhythm and centered balance. Evan has direct swing path producing hard contact. He shows power to the pull side. Evan is an intriguing prospect who has a good feel for the game and an exception set of skills.

12/20/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Evan is a 5'9/155 lbs SS with an athletic frame that competed with strength at the Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. Defensively, he worked to his fielding position on-time and made plays with a sure glove. He played through the baseball to generate momentum to first, throwing on-line to his targets. He kept his hips low to field a backhand and used the proper footwork to throw. Offensively, he used his lower half well getting the barrel through the zone and pulled the ball hard with some present pop - 87 mph exit velo. Evan worked in cage rotations on relaxing his body in his setup, allowing for greater bat speed and fluidity through the swing. All in all - Evan is a 7.1 runner that had a 9'1 broad jump, and plays the game with a competitive attitude, making him a strong prospect.

11/08/2015 - College PREP - Germantown (Memphis), TN Evan is an athletic SS/RHP that will graduate in 2018 with a promising future on the diamond at both positions. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.08 60 time. At SS, feet are active / aggressive as he moves well laterally as he covers a lot of ground, displaying range in the MIF. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Glove is soft, sure, and presents well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he works to get rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed as he works to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He is aggressive and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late sharp break and shows as a quality pitch that will get outs. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Off speed stuff show potential as quality pitches as he continues to develop. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, Evan has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to develop, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
